Have you forgotten what it’s like to laugh, I mean really laugh?
I remember one cosy evening a few years ago, curled up on the sofa watching Sue Perkins, my TV presenting idol, travelling through Kolkata.
There was one scene were she went to visit a laughter yoga club, which I imagined felt more than a little awkward.
I admit that I definitely judged the participants. Yes they seemed to put on a good show of being happy, but that was it, it all seemed very put on.
Fast forward many years and two kids later as I sat awkwardly in my Improv class one night sweating slightly and trying to smile as my teacher suggested we all try a bit of group laughter.
I didn’t think it would make much difference, I mean I’m a pretty happy person most if the time.
My goodness.
Do you actually remember what it’s like to properly belly laugh? Like, doubled over, can’t stop style laughing?!
It was awesome! It didn’t feel fake at all, it felt like a proper release, like I was physically lighter afterwards.
